There has never been any such thing as a cheap consumer good. Someone always pays. Maybe not you, and maybe not now, but someone pays.

If it wasn't the labourer on slave wages in a developing nation or a first-world prison, it's an underpaid, over-worked retail salesperson or delivery driver.

And even the participants in the manufacturing and supply chains are reasonably well remunerated and treated, the environmental cost of the cheap, disposable crap consumers love is just starting to take its toll.
