In Australia we've been dealing with water shortages for decades. Domestic water tanks, half-flush toilets, recycling, dryland farming etc. are all existing technologies that help mitigate water usage and waste.

In cities, home owners pay water rates on above average usage ... big garden and/or lawn to maintain - pay rates or install water tanks - your call.

Landscape designers are choosing plant species that are less water dependent.

Industrial enterprises collect their own water to reduce their operating costs.

Nonetheless, water restrictions are more commonplace these days, but individual households are better equipped to deal with them.

For inspiration, you only have to look to your own 'Earthship' communities to see how it can be done.

I'd also recommend stool softner for Donald Trump. Then he wouldn't have to flush 10-15 times every time he takes a dump. That'd save a lot of water.
