Certainly there are no shortage of examples where incompetent people are well paid, but from a career perspective, education is unlikely to attract the best and brightest when it barely pays a living wage.
Undoubtedly racism is a contributing factor. The whole ‘red line district’ policy and the resultant school funding based on property values is a perverse system designed specifically to keep non-whites ignorant.
The end game of this system is under-funded schools, over-worked, low-skilled, and underpaid teachers and an inadequately educated population.
No wonder the US is in such decline when the majority of its youth is treated with such utter disdain.
